The Kersey/Beach Story
How do you put into words what has been one of the most incredible weekends we’ve enjoyed as a family? We can look back at that weekend and the weeks leading up to it and rejoice at God’s faithfulness and our friends’ generosity.
Several months ago upon hearing of Jonathan Beach’s death, we considered that if we ever did a Both Hands project for our adoption that it would certainly be to bless his widow, Diana, and their daughters.
Here are just some of the ways everyone was encouraged and blessed:
- Over 70 people worked on Diana’s house that weekend to put on a new roof and landscape her yard.
- No one was injured but we certainly experienced a new level of soreness.
- Roughly $20,000 was donated in materials for the Beach’s roofing and landscaping and food and drinks for the workers.
- The weather was wonderful. In fact, the rain Friday night softened the soil for the landscaping on Saturday, kept the morning cool for the roofers, and forced us to begin the roofing Friday instead of trying to complete it all on Saturday (which we would not have had the time to complete that day).
- This is the story we long to share with Caleb, a story of God’s grace and provision and the Lord working through His people.
*The child we someday hope to adopt is a 3 to 5 year old boy from Honduras. Honduras is currently closed to international adoption but we are praying that it would open soon.
