The Singletary/Hill Story
We wanted to send a follow-up note about our Both Hands project that we did to help Denise Hill.
October 4th was a fabulous, sunny day in Nashville. We had nearly 20 people working on her house. We repaired, stripped and painted her back porch, re-landscaped the back garden area, pressure washed the back and side of her house, landscaped the front, fixed a pantry door, 2 light fixtures, repaired a broken brick retaining wall, replaced 2 ceiling fans, painted her large family room, fixed a flat tire, and set up her aquarium!
You can see a before and after in the attached pictures. It was a lot! We were all tired! But at the end of the day, everyone had a good time and we had accomplished all we set out to for Denise. And God was glorified in the process! Denise was a little nervous letting all these strange people take over her house for a day. But in the end, she was happy with the results and moved beyond words…truly!
We want to thank everyone who helped out that day as well as several local merchants who generously supported our project:
• Gateway Tire Company in Cool Springs replaced her flat tire for free
• Soloman Brothers Construction donated landscape timbers and mulch
• Publix Deli donated a great fried chicken lunch for the team
• PetSmart donated the materials and fish to fill Denise’s aquarium
An update on [our adopted daughter] is also in order. She underwent her second operation October 13th. It was actually the 3rd thru 6th procedures. We worked on both knees and both hips. So after 3 weeks of freedom from the last set of casts, Claire is again casted from high-thigh down to her toes on both legs. Pretty pink ones! She is handling it all like a champ, though. And we have achieved terrific results! Her prospects for standing with braces are now excellent, though not assured! And that also means that walking is no longer out of the question. God is good indeed!
Angela and I would like to personally thank everyone involved. We cannot put into words our gratitude for the support that has been generated. It was a great day! We raised some money for Both Hands and got to bless Denise. May God bless you and your families many times over in the same way that you have blessed us.
